The 2019 Kia Sorento is a midsize SUV that can transport seven people in comfort. While the Sorento has plenty of room inside, it’s not a behemoth that will leave you wondering where you’ll be able to park it. This three-row SUV comes in several different models, which allows buyers at dealerships like the Conroe Kia dealer to order a Sorento as a bare-bones economy model or decked out with luxurious amenities.

According to the Conroe Kia dealership, the Sorento gets a few changes for 2019. A new eight-speed automatic transmission replaces last year’s six-speed automatic. The front and rear get refreshed styling and the Sorento gets three rows standard.

The 2019 Kia Sorento is offered in five trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX and SX Limited. Front-wheel drive is standard across the board, while all-wheel drive can be had on all trims except the base L.

The L and LX models are powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The other trims employ a 3.3-liter V6 that generates 290 hp and 252 lb-ft, connected to an eight-speed automatic gearbox that’s available in the LX trim. The 2019 Sorento is capable of pulling between 2,000 and 5,000 pounds, depending on the configuration.

The 2019 Kia Sorento with the four-cylinder unit and front-wheel drive gets an EPA-estimated 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, while all-wheel-drive models are rated at 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.* With the V6 engine, the Sorento gets 19/26 with front-wheel drive and 19/24 with all-wheel drive.

The experts at Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com wrote: “The Sorento is slightly smaller than competitors, but it's also less expensive ... Its value proposition is further heightened when you look at the Sorento's roster of standard features. … Other updates that include additional driver-assist features, a new transmission, and premium harman/kardon audio system help the Sorento keep its status as not just a sensible value, but a smart choice among smaller 3-row SUVs.”

As you’d expect from a Kia model, even the base L trim comes with a nice feature list, including cruise control, 17-inch alloy wheels, stain-resistant cloth upholstery and keyless entry. There’s a new standard 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that includes Bluetooth, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The LX comes with blind-spot monitoring, an acoustic windshield and two rapid-charge USB ports. LX buyers who choose the V6 engine get automatic climate control with two zones and a power driver’s seat. Selecting one of the higher trims adds even more standard features.

The EX trim with the V6 engine gets an automatic emergency braking system with pedestrian detection. This setup uses sensors to detect pedestrians in the vehicle’s path. If it senses a collision is imminent, it deploys the brakes.
