The Kia Forte was redesigned last year, and this compact sedan continues to win over buyers at the Cypress Kia dealership. The 2020 Kia Forte is the perfect car for anyone looking for a reliable, economical, fuel-efficient small sedan that comes with plenty of standard features. The base engine provides enough power to please most buyers, but those looking for even higher performance can select the new Forte GT trim, which gets a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine.

According to the Kia dealership near Cypress, the 2020 Kia Forte comes in five trim levels, listed as FE, LXS, GT-Line, EX and GT. We’ll go over the different trims and examine what each one offers buyers.

Kia Forte FE

The Kia Forte FE, along with the LXS, GT-Line and EX, is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. On the FE, this engine is mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional continuously variable transmission (CVT). EPA-estimated fuel economy for the FE trim is rated at 27/37 mpg with the manual and 31/41 mpg with the automatic.*

Standard features on FE include air conditioning, cloth upholstery, six-way manually adjustable front seats, a tilt/telescope steering wheel, power locks and windows, a trip computer, smartphone integration, an audio system with four speakers, Bluetooth, a USB port and an auxiliary audio input. Driver-assistance features that come standard include driver attention monitoring, forward-collision mitigation and lane-keeping assist.

Kia Forte LXS

The LXS and higher trims get the CVT as standard equipment. The LXS, GT-Line and EX come with selectable driving modes that let the driver choose between Normal, Smart and Sport to provide a custom ride. Smart mode detects how the Forte is being driven and automatically selects the Normal or Sport mode. The LXS trim gets the features of the FE and adds soft-touch plastic on the door panels and dashboard, as well as 60/40-split/fold rear seats.

Kia Forte GT-Line

The Forte GT-Line comes with black exterior accents, a rear spoiler, 17-inch wheels, keyless entry and ignition, heated mirrors, a rear armrest, cloth upholstery with faux-leather side bolsters, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a stereo system with six speakers, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.

Kia Forte EX

The Forte EX comes with most of the convenience features of the GT-Line and adds dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air vents, 17-inch wheels, heated and ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, faux-leather upholstery, satellite radio and two USB charging ports.

Kia Forte GT

The new GT trim is equipped with a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, teamed to a standard seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with paddle shifters or an optional six-speed manual. This engine returns 27/35 mpg with the automatic transmission and 25/32 mpg with the manual.

The GT starts with most of the GT-Line’s features and adds a fully independent rear suspension, dual exhaust pipes, larger front brakes, automatic high-beam control, LED headlights, rear air vents, ambient interior lighting, satellite radio and two USB charging ports. Michelin Pilot Sport summer performance tires are available.
