The 2019 Kia Soul comes with a long list of driver-assist features, while options such as the Harman/Kardon premium audio system will please the most discerning buyers. There are a few changes for 2019. The Soul gets some packaging improvements, including several new standard features, such as voice recognition, a rear camera display and a 5-inch touchscreen.

Automotive reviewers are as impressed by the 2019 Kia Soul as consumers. Edmunds wrote: “One thing that has remained constant, however, is its value proposition. The Soul seats five passengers and is comes in three imaginatively named trim levels: base, Plus (+) and Exclaim (!). The base trim is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 130 horsepower and 118 lb-ft of torque, mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional six-speed automatic. Under the hood of the Plus is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that generates 161 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque, connected to the six-speed automatic transmission. The Exclaim is motivated by a 1.6-liter turbo-four that produces 201 hp and 195 lb-ft, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This powerplant delivers the best fuel economy of the bunch, with an EPA-estimated 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.*

Even the Soul’s Base trim comes with a nice list of standard features, including 16-inch alloy wheels, a six-way-manual-adjust driver's seat, a drive-mode function, power windows and door locks, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, air conditioning, voice recognition, a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, a stereo system and a rear camera display. The Plus comes with automatic climate control, Kia’s UVO interface, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a rearview camera. At the top of the range, the Exclaim model includes push-button start, a proximity key, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, and leather-trimmed seats.

The 2019 Kia Soul received the highest score of five stars for overall safety by the NHTSA. The IIHS gave the Soul it’s top rating of Good in all crash tests and named the model one of its Top Safety Pick models.
