Spring Tire Rotation

Buying new tires can be costly, so it’s important to ensure they last for a long time. The best way to do that is to rotate the tires according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. This varies from every 3,000 miles to every 8,000 miles, depending on the manufacturer and the type of tires. Fortunately, if you live in Spring, tire rotation service is nearby, at the Parkway Family Kia Service Center in Kingwood.

Many of our customers ask us why it’s important to bring their cars to our service center to get tire rotation for Spring. The short answer is that each tire does a slightly different job, so they don’t all wear at the same rate. With front-wheel-drive vehicles, the front tires have a harder job to do than the rear tires. The front tires have to carry most of the load of the front end, which is where the engine and transmission are located. But rear-wheel-drive vehicles also need tire rotation.

When you bring your car to the Parkway Family Kia Service Department for tire rotation, the service technician will change the position of the tires. There are different rotation patterns for different vehicles; the technician will use the appropriate pattern for your car. They’ll also inspect the tires for any signs of wear or damage and check the tire’s air pressure.

There are three main rotation patterns: forward cross, x-pattern and rearward cross. You can check your car’s owner’s manual to find the pattern recommended for your car.

  • Forward Cross: The forward-cross pattern is used for front-wheel-drive vehicles. The front tires are placed on the rear of the vehicle. The rear tires are then relocated to the front and placed on opposite sides.
  • X-pattern: This is an alternate pattern for four-wheel-drive vehicles. The front tires move to the rear, the rear tires move the front, and both sets switch sides.
  • Rearward cross: This pattern is for four-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive vehicles. The rear tires are transferred to the front, and the front tires move to the back and switch sides.

Many performance cars use tires that have wider rear tires than those in the front. These tires can’t be rotated in the same way as standard tires. They can only be rotated from left to right and right to left. Some performance vehicles use directional tires, which means they can only go in one direction. These tires must be rotated by moving them from the front to the rear and the rear to the front. They can’t switch sides.

You can rotate your own tires, but we recommend leaving the job to professional service technicians like the team at Parkway Family Kia.
