Those who think there’s no more room for small crossovers in the Kia roster will be pleasantly surprised to learn about the all-new 2021 Kia Seltos. Based on the same platform as the exceptional Hyundai Kona, the Seltos merges the maneuverability of the Kia Soul with a somewhat longer body to add even more utility. According to the Conroe Kia dealer, this subcompact crossover delivers sharp handling similar to the Soul, but the Seltos has a more spacious interior, a taller ride height, and more technology features.

The 2021 Kia Seltos is offered in five trim levels: LX, S, EX, S Turbo and SX Turbo. Seltos shoppers at dealers like the Conroe Kia dealership can choose from one of two four-cylinder engines: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that develops 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, and a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder that generates a cool 175 hp and 195 lb-ft. The base engine is teamed to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), while the turbo-four is paired to a seven-speed automatic gearbox. Most Seltos trims get standard front-wheel drive. An available all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring control and a lock mode allows the Seltos to tackle more serious road conditions.

As you’d expect, fuel-economy figures are high, with the base 2.0-liter engine returning 29/24 mpg with front-wheel drive and 27/31 mpg with all-wheel drive.* 1.6-liter turbo-four delivers 25/30 mpg. The numbers for the turbocharged engine with front-wheel drive are unavailable at the time of this writing.

The Seltos has plenty of room to store cargo. With the seats folded up, there’s just under 27 cubic feet of space. Fold the seats down, and you get a full 63 cubic feet to store anything you need to take along for the ride. The back seat is very spacious, with ample head- and legroom. Without the sunroof, the driver and passengers can take advantage of 40 inches of front headroom and 38.4-inches of headroom in the rear.
